Everyday cotton and linen sheets, pillowcases, and bath towels go through a standard laundering process. They are washed in water, dried, and folded.
Down comforters, duvets, and decorative pillows often go through dry cleaning instead, because the water and agitation of a regular wash can clump the down or distort the structure.
Tablecloths and napkins depend on the fabric. Plain cotton can be laundered; linen, silk, or embroidered table linens are usually dry cleaned to preserve the finish.
Drapery is dry cleaned. The fabric, the lining and the way it has hung can all distort under water.
